Ligation of Polyps
- The ligated polyps will turn to black colour after few days, it will then slough off spontaneously. Please consult Paediatrian if the ligated polyps are still intact after few days.
- After the polyps slough off, it may have minor bleeding over the site. Please apply direct pressure to stop bleeding. Please consult Paediatrian if the bleeding cannot be stopped.
- For daily care, you may clean the surrounding skin with cool boiled water and dry it afterwards. Keep the site clean and dry to prevent infection. If there are signs and symptoms of wound infection, e.g. persistent or increasing redness or swelling, profuse yellowish secretion and fever, please consult your Paediatrian immediately.
Excision of polyps with suturing
- Do not wet the wound dressing after the excision of polyps. The wound dressing should be kept clean and dry to prevent infection. If it is wet, disinfectant should be used to clean the wound and then reapply a new sterile wound dressing.
- If there are signs and symptoms of wound infection, e.g. persistent, increasing redness or swelling, profuse yellowish secretion and fever, please consult your Paediatrian immediately.
- Follow up Paediatrian as suggested to remove sutures.
