Vitrectomy for Bleeding in the Eye in Diabetes, High blood pressure etc.
Diabetic Retinopathy
- High blood glucose level associated with diabetes damage blood vessels in the retina. The retinal blood vessels weaken and become leaky, causing haemorrhage and swelling in retina, resulting in decreased vision.
- New fragile blood vessels grow and they will break easily, leaking blood into the vitreous, causing sudden blurring of vision.
- In later phases, scar tissue may cause retinal detachment.
- Diabetic patients require regular eye examinations so that diabetic retinopathy can be detected and treated as early as possible.
