Retina Surgeries
Retinal Detachment
- More commonly occur in people with high degree of shortsightedness and those having significant eye injuries.
- Symptoms are flashes, sudden increase in floaters and seeing gradually enlarging shadow.
- Immediate medical attention is required.
Floaters
- Black spots or webs that appear to be floating in vision.
- They are usually due to normal degeneration of vitreous (gel-like substance inside eyeball). Such degeneration is common and harmless.
- However, sudden increase in number of floaters may be a symptom of retinal detachment. Immediate attention by ophthalmologist is necessary.
